“We should value what we learn in school and make this a weapon to serve the people who are left behind.”

Words of encouragement said by the Commencement Speaker, Maximo Aljibe, PhD, DPM, CESO III, regional director of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII, in his inspirational speech during the 47th Commencement Exercises at the Tanauan Civic Center Tanauan, Leyte, July 8.

Aljibe stressed that the graduates should not let chances and opportunities slip away. He commended the hard work of the parents, the teachers, and especially the Eastern Visayas State University—Tanauan Campus (EVSU—TC) community.

“It is an honor for me and I am delightfully overwhelmed being part of this momentous event because, in the last 2 years, we did not have a face-to-face graduation,” Aljibe said.

Further, he reminded the graduates that their struggles have already paid off but they should perpetually aspire to create a positive change in the community.

Aljibe saluted the parents for molding their students into the best version of themselves. He believed that despite the obstacles along their path, they can fulfill their life’s ambitions.

He ended his message by sharing how courageous Filipinos are, especially the Waraynons. According to him, whatever circumstances may come, Waraynons do not waver and remain steadfast in the face of adversity.
